Turning the tides, AirAsia Indonesia scored IDR 20.64 billion of net profit
JAKARTA. PT AirAsia Indonesia Tbk (CMPP), the managing company of AirAsia airline in Indonesia, booked a net profit of IDR 20.64 billion in the first quarter of 2023.
The achievement was far better than the numbers seen last year, in which CMPP recorded loss of IDR 503 billion. According to the recently published financial report, the net profit growth was supported by its revenue that proliferated to IDR 1.37 trillion in Q1 2023. For comparison, in the same period last year, CMPP’s revenue was stuck at IDR 276.71 billion.
Low revenue in Q1 2022 was a definite result of the implementation of the Community Activities Restriction Policy, which had limited the mobility of the public, including the users of airlines. Fortunately, the policy had been lifted by the Indonesian government in late 2022, along with the decrease of COVID-19 cases.
Based on the revenue composition in Q1 2023, most of CMPP’s revenue came from passenger seat sales, which generated IDR 1.15 trillion of revenue, followed by income from other passengers of IDR 13.07 billion, cargo of IDR 13.07 billion, and chartered flights of IDR 10.77 billion.
On top of those, CMPP also gained other quite significant operating revenue, including foreign currency exchange gains of IDR 411.18 billion, aeroplane sale and purchase transactions of IDR 1.07 billion, and others of IDR 4.64 billion. (KR/ZH)
