JAKARTA - The number of shares bought and sold in foreign transactions on May 17 exceeded 4 billion shares. More specifically, foreign investors purchased 4.16 billion shares and sold 4.04 billion shares, resulting in 122,653,300 shares being recorded as net foreign volume. More than 2.68 billion shares of PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO) were purchased by foreign investors, and this time, the net volume was also the highest at 212.07 million shares. The shares of PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (GIAA), a national airline issuer, had the lowest net volume after foreign investors sold 144.41 million shares. The net volume was negative at 134.33 million shares because the number of foreign purchases made toward GIAA was not substantial.

After GOTO, shares of PT Nusantara Sawit Sejahtera Tbk (NSSS), the company that produces palm oil, saw a net volume of 64.44 million and a purchase volume of 65.47 million. Following that, fewer than 30 million shares of net volumes were reported by other issuers. After foreign investors purchased 97.94 million foreign shares, national bank issuer PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBRI) achieved a net volume of 29.69 million shares. The volume of PT Bumi Resources Tbk (BUMI) shares that were purchased was actually quite large, reaching 131.91 million shares, but the net volume was only around 26.52 million shares. In addition, mining company PT Merdeka Copper Gold Tbk (MDKA) achieved a net volume of 25.51 million shares after foreign investors purchased 39.27 million of its shares.

On the other hand, foreign investors actually sold 75.34 million shares of media issuer PT Global Mediacom Tbk (BMTR), and the net volume was negative by about 62.81 million shares. Following closely behind with a net volume of -44.55 million and a foreign sales volume of 64.09 million shares was another media issuer, PT Surya Citra Media Tbk (SCMA), while PT Media Nusantara Citra Tbk (MNCN) sold 44.38 million shares and had a net volume of almost -30 million. Last but not least, foreigners released 40.30 million shares of PT Adaro Energy Indonesia Tbk (ADRO), resulting in a net volume of roughly -24.45 million shares reported by this mining issuer. (KD)
