JAKARTA - On Monday, May 22, foreign investors purchased 4.41 billion shares of Indonesian stock in a single day. This time, the net foreign volume was in excess of 1,800,581,000 shares, with a total of roughly 2.61 billion shares sold by foreign investors. Foreign purchases of 2.63 billion shares of PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO) for a net volume of 1.52 billion shares this time were still crucial in boosting the net foreign volume. Following that, foreign investors bought up to 268.41 million shares of telecommunications issuer PT Smartfren Telecom Tbk (FREN), resulting in a net volume of 181.45 million shares.

Additionally, a mining company PT Bumi Resources Tbk (BUMI) saw 133.23 million shares purchased by foreign investors. The net volume of BUMI then nearly reached 70 million shares. The net volume of PT Nusantara Sawit Sejahtera Tbk (NSSS) was relatively high at 64.59 million shares because shares of this palm oil issuer were also purchased in a total of 64.65 million shares without a significant sales volume. Not only that, but foreigners also bought 72.45 million shares of PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk (BMRI), even though it only registered a net volume of 39.14 million.

On the other hand, foreign investors sold 87.26 million shares of the state-owned telecommunication enterprise PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (TLKM). With this sale, TLKM's net volume was at negative 55.32 million shares, making it the lowest one this time. Following this number was PT Global Mediacom Tbk's (BMTR) net volume, which was negative 49.29 million shares with a 52.99 million share sales volume. Then, on a 35.20 million share sales volume, PT Wijaya Karya Gedung Gedung Tbk (WEGE), an issuer of construction and concessions, recorded a net volume of nearly -30 million shares, while PT Mitra Pack Tbk (PTMP), an issuer of food packaging, recorded a net volume of -21.17 million shares on a 22.52 million share sales volume. Finally, 17.84 million shares of issuer PT MNC Vision Networks Tbk (IPTV) were sold to foreigners. The shares of the TV subscription company, which is also a member of the MNC Group, were not purchased by many foreigners, so the net volume closed at -17.44 million shares. (KD)
