JAKARTA - Inflation in May 2023 was recorded at 4%, up from May 2022 at 3.5%. This inflation achievement shot higher compared to May 2021 which was still at 1.68%.

Data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) published on Monday (5/6), inflation has recorded a decline from January 2023 to May 2023, but inflation from April 2023 to May 2023 has recorded an increase.

In January 2023, BPS recorded inflation of 5.28%, rose to 5.47% in February 2023, fell to 4.97% in March 2023 and April 2023 was recorded at 4.33%.

The biggest contributors to inflation in May 2023 included the transportation sector 10.62%, personal care and other services 4.48%, food, beverages and tobacco 4.27%, and food and beverage providers (restaurants) 3.38%. (LK/LM)
