HELI projects cargo drones to operate in H2 2023
JAKARTA - PT Jaya Trishindo Tbk (HELI) projects its cargo drone business line, which should earn the safety certification from the Ministry of Transportation, to operate in September 2023. Five units of cargo that will begin their operations in H2 2023 will contribute 10% to the company’s revenue.
Edwin Widjaja, President Director of HELI, mentioned that the management is currently aiming to secure certifications from the Ministry of Transportation to meet the safety standards. “With said certificates, the users’ trust in the cargo drone services will improve,” he mentioned in the public expose quoted Monday (12/6).
According to Widjaja, this cargo drone business line might potentially rise as the e-commerce utilisation skyrockets. The demand for fast delivery will be more popular, thus urging the company to plan for acquiring additional 5 cargo drones next year.
The fund source for these additional drones will be 30% from the internal cash and 70% from the external cash, in the form of loans, bonds, or other corporate actions.
So far, HELI has test-driven cargo drones through load, speed, and mileage tests. The tests show that these drones could transport 5-kg load in 80 kilometres per hour (km/h) through 160 km in two hours, non-stop. (LK/ZH)
