JAKARTA. PT Astra International Tbk (ASII) announces the car sales in the first half (H1) of 2023 reached 277,924 units, 7% higher than the same period last year.

Boy Kelana Soebroto, Head of Corporate Communications of Astra, said that this growth is in accordance with national car sales in H1 2023 that also increased 7% yoy. “We hope that GIIAS 2023 will be the catalyst for national and Astra car sales,” he added in the official statement.

For the record, last year’s national car sales were reportedly 1,048,040 units. Meanwhile, in H1 2022, the sales were at 505,985 units.

The composition of ASII’s car sales in H1 2023 was still dominated by Toyota + Lexus, recording 161,448 units sold. Then, Daihatsu cars’ sales clocked up to 99,240 units, followed by Isuzu of 16,154 units, UD Trucks of 957 units, and Peugeot of 125 units.

Out of all sold cars, 102,908 units are low-cost green car (LCGC). ASII still conquers 75% of LCGC’s market share in Indonesia, while the market share for national cars is reported at 55%. (KR/ZH)
