Foreign investors sold 3 billion shares, resulting in a net foreign loss of 676 million shares
JAKARTA - On Wednesday, August 16, the volume of shares sold by foreign investors exceeded 3 billion units. The total number of shares purchased was only around 2.36 billion, while the total number of shares sold was 3.04 billion. As a result, the net foreign volume was minus 676,298,200 shares this time. The majority of this figure was contributed by technology issuer PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO), whose net volume was minus 453.33 million shares due to foreign investors selling 1.15 billion GOTO shares.
Following GOTO in the top sell line were three SOEs: PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBRI), PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (TLKM), and Pertamina's geothermal subsidiary, PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk (PGEO). BBRI's net volume trailed GOTO's by nearly -49 million shares. Then came TLKM and PGEO, with net volumes in the -35 million share range. Despite this, the three issuers' foreign sales volumes ranged widely, beginning at 117.66 million BBRI, 87.28 million TLKM, and 41.07 million PGEO. Furthermore, PT Nusantara Sawit Sejahtera Tbk (NSSS) shares were sold for nearly 50 million shares, with a net volume of around -28.30 million.
In the meantime, PT Bumi Resources Tbk (BUMI) and its mineral mining subsidiary, PT Bumi Resources Minerals Tbk (BRMS), had the highest net volumes this time, with 47.04 million BUMI and 45.09 million BRMS. However, foreign investors purchased up to 232.47 million shares of BUMI but only about 90.28 million shares of BRMS. Foreigners also purchased 153.92 million shares in the e-commerce company PT Bukalapak.com Tbk (BUKA), as well as 45.48 million shares in the electric vehicle company PT VKTR Teknologi Mobilitas Tbk (VKTR). Surprisingly, both issuers had a net volume of around 35 million shares. Finally, PT Metro Healthcare Indonesia Tbk (CARE) reported a net volume of 33.67 million shares after foreign investors purchased 40.43 million shares of this hospital issuer. (KD)
