JAKARTA - PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (GIAA) deems the plan of merger of airlines a positive signal for the improvement of fundamental aspects of its company after restructuring process.

In the press release quoted Thursday (23/8), the management of GIAA confirmed that the plan of merging Garuda Indonesia Group and Pelita Air is still under intensive discussion.

Garuda Indonesia Group will support and look forward positively towards this merger plan whilst referring to a prudent business outlook. At this point, the company has explored business synergy opportunities to optimise the profitability and strengthen the ecosystem of flight/airline business.

As is known, the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprise (SOEs) has proposed a business merger involving GIAA, PT Citilink Indonesia, and PT Pelita Air. GIAA is known as the upper-middle class international airline that offers international and domestic routes, while Citilink is more focused on domestic routes. Then, PT Pelita Air Service serves domestic flights, and is under PT Pertamina (Persero). (LK/ZH)
