JAKARTA - Foreign investors increased their stock purchases on Thursday, September 7. The total number of shares sold was 3.22 billion, while the total number of shares purchased was around 3.07 billion, though it was still relatively high. In this instance, the net foreign volume was minus 150,860,900 shares. The shares of the company that provides the e-commerce platform, PT Bukalapak.com Tbk (BUKA), were sold in a volume of 435.02 million units, resulting in the highest net volume of 225.79 million. In contrast, foreigners sold as many as 84.17 million shares of PT Bakrie & Brothers Tbk (BNBR) without being accompanied by significant purchases, resulting in a net volume of 84.09 million.
Three major banks in the financial services sector actually also experienced a decline in net volume. PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBRI) had a net volume of -63.74 million shares, while PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BBCA) and PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk (BMRI) had net volumes of around -30 million shares. Foreign investors were seen selling roughly 107.95 million BBRI shares, nearly 50 million BBCA shares, and also 76.10 million BMRI shares. The nickel mining company PT Trimegah Bangun Persada Tbk (NCKL) then concluded the top sell list, reporting a net volume of -31 million shares after foreigners dumped 40.23 million NCKL shares.
Meanwhile, foreign investors were aiming to acquire more than 225.61 million shares of mineral mining company PT Bumi Resources Minerals Tbk (BRMS), followed by nearly 140 million shares of palm oil producer PT Nusantara Sawit Sejahtera Tbk (NSSS). As a result, BRMS's net foreign volume was nearly 80 million shares at the time, while NSSS's was only around 24.27 million. PT Industri Jamu Dan Farmasi Sido Muncul Tbk (SIDO), an herbal medicine manufacturer, then reported foreign purchases of 23.72 million shares.
