JAKARTA - PT CCSI Konektivitas Digital (CKD), a subsidiary of PT Communication Cable Systems Indonesia Tbk (CCSI), officially joins hands with strategic partners to develop Varuna Cable Systems (VARUNA), a submarine cable backbone network connecting islands in Indonesia.

The strategic partners mentioned above consist of PT Pracheta Nusa Telekom (Pracheta), a subsidiary of PT NAP Info Lintas Nusa (Matrix NAP Info), and Mitsui & Co. Ltd. Jepang (Mitsui).

“By uniting with Matrix NAP Info and Mitsui, we are poised to be the market leader in Indonesia's submarine cable business," claimed Peter Djatmiko, CEO of CCSI and VCS.

The three parties in interest are reported to have sign Joint Venture Agreement on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, and inaugurate PT Varuna Cahaya Santosa (VCS) as a joint venture focusing on handling VARUNA project.

Based on the press release of CCSI, VARUNA will be made up of 2,700 km of submarine cable and 1,400 km of land cable. “The total 4,100 km of this cable network will connect major islands in Indonesia, including Java, Bali, Lombok, Labuan Bajo, Sulawesi, Kalimantan, and Madura,” the management of CCSI mentioned.

In other words, VARUNA is designed to support digital connectivity of Nusantara Capital City (IKN), as well as Eastern Indonesia. “We expect that our collaboration in establishing Varuna will drive inclusive domestic digital economic growth," Omar Syarif Nasution, Director of Matrix NAP Info, added.
