JAKARTA - On Friday, September 15, foreign investors made a record number of share transactions. Foreign investor purchases totaled 18.36 billion shares, while share sales totaled 16.74 billion. As a result, net foreign volume closed in a significant surplus position this time, totaling 1.62 billion shares.

This time, three issuers reported foreign purchases in the billions of shares. Foreigners bought the most shares in the mining holding company PT Bumi Resources Tbk (BUMI), with 6.44 billion shares, followed by its mineral mining subsidiary, PT Bumi Resources Minerals Tbk (BRMS), with 4.67 billion shares. Furthermore, as many as 2.17 billion shares from PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO), a digital ecosystem company, were purchased; GOTO also had the highest foreign net volume with 1.12 billion. Net volumes for BRMS and BUMI were around 823.50 million and 256.72 million shares, respectively.

In addition, foreigners purchased a total of 70.25 million shares of the oil and gas company PT Astrindo Nusantara Infrastruktur Tbk (BIPI) with a net volume of 64.08 million. PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (TLKM), the national telecom company, then sealed the top buy line with 106.79 million shares purchased and a net volume of 43.48 million shares.

With a foreign sales volume of 883.82 million shares, another telecommunications company, PT Smartfren Telecom Tbk (FREN), topped the top-sell list. FREN shares also had the lowest net volume, at -414.55 million. PT Surya Citra Media Tbk (SCMA), a broadcast media issuer, was seeing its 67.05 million shares released without significant purchases, resulting in a net volume of around -58.47 million. The following shares were released: 52.05 million for PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (GIAA), with the net volume of this national airline closing at around 36.19 million. Finally, hospital company PT Medikaloka Hermina Tbk (HEAL) and property developer PT Summarecon Agung Tbk (SMRA) both recorded a net volume of around negative 25 million shares. However, the total number of HEAL shares released by foreigners was 160.55, which was significantly higher than SMRA's, which was only around 38.12 million shares. (KD)
