Foreign sales volume almost doubled; net foreign plunged to minus 1.72 billion
JAKARTA - On Monday, October 16, total foreign sales volume hit 8.65 billion shares, nearly double the previous day's volume of roughly 4.68 billion shares. The total volume of foreign purchases was 6.92 billion shares, resulting in a net foreign purchase volume of -1.72 billion shares. The sale of shares of the digital company PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO), which reached 6.85 billion shares with a net volume of -1.66 billion shares, was one of the largest contributors to the high overall foreign sales volume.
Two firms recorded a net volume of nearly -50 million shares, notably the telecommunications company PT Smartfren Telecom Tbk (FREN) and the mining contracting company PT Darma Henwa Tbk (DEWA). Foreign investors were seen selling 96.27 million FREN shares and 59.85 million DEWA shares. A total of 37.44 million shares of the subscription broadcasting services company PT MNC Vision Networks Tbk (IPTV) were also sold, with a net volume of -31.53 million shares, followed by the sale of 39.43 million shares of the coal mining company PT Bumi Resources Tbk (BUMI), with a net volume of -20.40 million shares.
On the top buy list, shares of the subsidiary PT Bumi Resources Minerals Tbk (BRMS) were the shares bought up the most. This mineral mining company's shares were purchased for a total of 93.61 million, with a net volume of 60.42 million. Furthermore, the purchase of shares in PT Bukalapak.com Tbk (BUKA) and PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (TLKM) generated net volumes in the range of 30 million shares. Foreign investors purchased approximately 79.48 million BUKA shares and 82.80 million TLKM shares in this transaction.
In addition, with a net volume of 26.15 million shares, foreign investors purchased 51.34 million shares of PT Barito Pacific Tbk (BRPT), which operates in the petrochemical and energy sectors.
