JAKARTA. PT Vale Indonesia Tbk (INCO), a foreign investment company that holds nickel mining and processing licenses in Indonesia, booked an increase in nickel production volume of up to 18% year-on-year (yoy) throughout January-September (9M) 2023.

Febriany Eddy, CEO and President Director of INCO, mentioned that the production volume of nickel in matte in 9M 2023 was recorded at 51,644 metric tons (MT). In the same period last year, the production of nickel in matte was stuck at 43,907 MT.

Furthermore, for the third quarter this year alone, the nickel-in-matte production of INCO was seen reaching 17,953 MT. “A planned, extensive scale of maintenance activities had been successfully completed in the first half of 2023. Combined with solid reliability of company’s assets, it resulted in production increase of 6% in Q3 2023 compared to Q2 2023,” Eddy explained in the official statement.

Eddy also mentioned that the production growth in 9M is supported by the success of Furnace 4 renovation that took place last year.

“We remain optimistic that we can attain full-year production target of 2023, which is set to approximately 70,000 tons,” said Eddy. (KR/ZH)
