JAKARTA. PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk (TPIA), through its subsidiary, PT Chandra Asri Alkali (CAA), has collaborated with PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminium (Inalum) to promote aluminium downstreaming process as well as accelerating domestic Electric Vehicle (EV) ecosystem.

In a signed Letter of Intent (LoI), TPIA, through its Chlor Alkali Ethylene Dichloride (CA-EDC), will supply caustic soda to Inalum. Said material will be used as the primary ingredient in aluminium production in the smelting plant owned by Inalum, which is also a component in EV battery.

Erwin Ciputra, President Director and CEO of TPIA, mentioned that the company is elated about this collaboration. It is because, as Ciputra said, this collaboration has an important role in the implementation of the company’s investment portfolio as promoter of mining donwstreaming processes.

“Chandra Asri Group may contribute in creating a downstreaming ecosystem, especially in aluminium sector, and supporting acceleration of domestic EV industry,” Ciputra added in the official release.

Meanwhile, Melati Sarnita, Director of Business Development of Inalum, said that the raw materials supplied by CAA will then be used by PT Borneo Alumina Indonesia (BAI), Inalum’s subsidiary established alongside PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (ANTM).

She then mentioned that Inalum is now focusing on developing national aluminium downstreaming ecosystem and increasing production. (KR/ZH)
