JAKARTA - PT Sumber Alfaria Trijaya Tbk (AMRT) will expand its outlet network to several countries in Asia beside the Philippines. This measure is aimed to reinforce its competitive power against other global retailers.

Anggara Hans Prawira, President Director of Sumber Alfaria Trijaya, mentioned that the company has been exploring potential markets and seeking partnerships in destination countries. “We are currently still exploring, possibly still within Asia. We are reviewing some of the candidates,” he told IDNFinancials earlier this week.

According to Prawira, AMRT will pair up with local retail management companies in destination countries so that it could gain more favourable reception from consumers. This is something that it has done while entering Philippines market. “We wish for this expansion to be carried out alongside local partners as they understand consumers better,” he added.

However, although partnering with local retailers, Prawira said that the primary term and condition of partnership is the utilisation of Alfamart brand.

In 2022, AMRT managed 29,798 outlets, consisting of 16,086 company-owned outlets and 4,712 franchises. In the Philippines, the company recorded 1,464 outlets with 3 warehouses. (LK/ZH)
