JAKARTA. CEO of PT United Tractors Tbk (UNTR), Fransiscus Xaverius Laksana Kesuma, fondly called Frans Kesuma, receives the award of the Best CEO in Construction Machinery and Heavy Equipment by Tempo.co and IDNFinancials last Friday at Sofitel Hotel, Nusa Dua, Bali.

In his official statement, Kesuma expresses his gratitude towards Tempo and IDNFinancials for this award nearing the end of 2023. “This award further drives UT in the future to continue promote economic growth, open up working opportunities, invest in technology and innovation, contribute alongside business partners and government to advance industrial sector, as well as become the pioneer in sustainability practices,” he told IDNFinancials today.

Kesuma is given the award for successfully leading United Tractors to be a company consistent in its business diversification strategy to balance out business portfolio, thus enabling sustainable business growth, with the main focus on mineral asset expansion and renewable energy portfolio enhancement. With this strategy, UNTR managed to secure well-maintained net profit growth.

For the record, UNTR’s net profit in 2020 was down to IDR 6 trillion from IDR 11.31 trillion in 2019 due to COVID-19. However, it managed to move up to IDR 10.28 trillion. Furthermore, as the pandemic subsides, its net profit has surpassed the net profit prior to pandemic and nearly doubled to IDR 21 trillion. In Q3 2023, the net profit reached IDR 15.35 trillion.

As a top company in the construction machinery and heavy equipment, UNTR is managing gold mining business line, and now seeking its way in to the nickel mining industry, as Kesuma said to IDNFinancials not long ago.

In the meantime, the renewable energy sector, the company, through its subsidiary, PT Energia Prima Nusantara (EPN), has initiated some mini hydropower plants and solar PV power plants, as well as starting its capital investment in geothermal projects.

Therefore, the company must be ready to face all kinds of challenges and changes, whilst securing balance between the opportunity prediction, risk mitigation, and anticipation of future dynamics, as Kesuma added further.

All those strategies mentioned above is a series of a long-term plan that has been prepared to attain UNTR’s vision of becoming a solution-based world-class company in the heavy equipment, as well as mining and energy, to generate returns to stakeholders.

TOP CEO Indonesia 2023 is a prestigious award granted to CEOs of publicly listed companies as an appreciation of their achievement and success in leading their companies, both in financial and social impact aspects.

This appreciation is carried out following meticulous data collection and research, including data in the financial and sustainability report, as well as virtual and face-to-face meeting with nominated CEOs.
