JAKARTA. President Director of PT Tjiwi Kimia Tbk Suhendra Wiriadinata won the award as the Best CEO in Forestry and Paper with Renewable Energy from tempo.co and IDNFinancials.com last weekend at the Sofitel Hotel, Nusa Dua Resort, Bali.

Suhendra received this award because of his high commitment to implementing ESG principles. Therefore, Tjiwi Kimia, in its company operations, has succeeded in using the installation of a Solar PV Power Plant (PLTS) on an area of ​​11.4 hectares with a capacity of 9.8 MWp. This will reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by up to 12,400 tons of CO2 every year.

The operation of the solar PV installation is a commitment to sustainability and part of PT Tjiwi Kimia Tbk's commitment to encourage more environmentally friendly business practices and support the achievement of the Indonesian Government's decarbonization targets. "The adoption of solar panel technology is a concrete manifestation of our dedication to contributing to creating a better future by carrying out the decarbonization process," he said some time ago.

The operation of the solar panels has confirmed Tjiwi Kimia's commitment to implementing ESG principles, which are an important aspect of the Company's operational chain, and must be a focus because they will have a significant impact on long-term business continuity.

In terms of company performance, PT Tjiwi Kimia Tbk in the third quarter of 2023 recorded net sales of IDR 812.635 billion, down compared to the same period in 2022 of IDR 885.388 billion. This decrease was driven by paper prices last year, which were much better than this year. The decline in sales had an impact on the lower net profit achieved in Quarter III-2023 amounting to IDR 134.08 billion compared to the same period in 2022 amounting to IDR 345.18 billion.

In previous years, PT Tjiwi Kimia Tbk's net sales were relatively stable and always reached above IDR 1 trillion, except during the pandemic when it fell below IDR 1 trillion. Meanwhile, net profit from 2019 to 2022 continues to increase so that net profit in 2019 was only recorded at IDR 166.52 billion and managed to jump to IDR 463.34 billion in 2022.

The CEO behind PT Tjiwi Kimia Tbk's success in using solar panels and its performance which has continued to grow in recent years, Suhendra Wiradinata deserved to be named as The Best CEO in Forestry and Paper with Renewable Energy.
