David Hidayat: SIDO's export potential to Japan is wide open
JAKARTA. President Director of PT Industri Jamu dan Farmasi Sido Muncul Tbk (SIDO) David Hidayat revealed that Sido Muncul's export potential to Japan is still wide open, following the Tolak Angin candy product which has been registered in Japan.
"Tolak Angin Candy is also planning to list in several Japanese modern trade supermarkets," said David to IDNFinancials.com yesterday, Tuesday (12/12/2023).
Meanwhile, according to David, the Tolak Angin Cair product is still under registration and he hopes to get approval from the Japanese authorities next year. David also explained that his party was also preparing several other products for distribution to Japan. "We maintain the positive trend image with several programs such as collaboration with Kopikalyan which is expected to continue in 2024," said David.
Some time ago there was viral news that Tolak Angin Sido appeared to have become a coffee blend in Japan. The Tolak Angin Latte coffee drink sold at a cafe in Japan is a combination of one glass of latte coffee and a sachet of Tolak Angin herbal medicine. Kopi Kalyan Japan is a collaboration between Kopi Kalyan Japan and the herbal medicine company Sido Muncul. Kopi Kalyan is owned by the Indonesian diaspora, namely Kenny Tjahyadi, who has purchased a license for Kopi Kalyan to be marketed in Japan.
Regarding the export market, David further explained that Sido Muncul's largest export market currently is Malaysia with the main products Tolak Angin Cair and Kukubima Ener-G beverage products with growth of 45% compared to sales in 2022. Meanwhile, Sido Muncul's total exports of total domestic sales is 7% throughout the third quarter of 2023. (AM/LM)
