JAKARTA – Net profit of PT Indosat Tbk (ISAT) was seen declining 4.6% year-on-year (yoy) to IDR 4.50 trillion despite its 9.6% increase in revenue in 2023. On the other hand, the network scope of Indosat increases as the number of 4G base transceiver stations (BTS) goes up to 179 thousand.

In the press release quoted today (7/2), Reski Damayanti, Corporate Secretary of Indosat, mentioned that the profit slippage is caused by, among others, other operating revenue shrinkage, swelled depreciation, amortisation, and marketing costs.

The issuer booked revenue of IDR 51.22 trillion, up from IDR 46.75 trillion. The largest contributor is cellular business line, generating IDR 43.74 trillion, followed by MIDI line of IDR 6.47 trillion and fixed telecommunication of IDR 1 trillion. In 2022, cellular line only generated IDR 40.24 trillion, MIDI turned in IDR 5.72 trillion, and fixed telecommunication of IDR 783.6 billion.

The company’s users reportedly decreased 3.4 million to 98.8 million, as compared to 2022 of 102.2 million. The average revenue per user (ARBU) for cellular users shifted upwards to IDR 35.6 thousand, 5.3% higher compared to IDR 33.9 thousand in 2022. Furthermore, the average utilisation time also went down to 7.3 minutes from 11 minutes. (LK/ZH)
