JAKARTA – Asep Sulaeman Sabanda (ASS), also known as the Sultan of Subang, faced a lawsuit of Suspension of Debt Payment Obligation (PKPU) in the Commercial Court of Central Jakarta District Court.

Based on the data compiled by IDNFinancials today (16/2), the petitioners are Puspita M Sasmita, Perry Sutedjo, Gunarto Sadono, Gabriella Cynthia Sadono, and Budi Purnama Dewi. All five creditors submitted the PKPU lawsuit on January 15, 2024. Other creditors also filed a similar lawsuit on October 24, 2023, namely Surjatun Widjaja, Lillie, Aylie, and Lenawati Widjaya.

The context behind the lawsuit is Sabanda’s position as the President Director of PT Sumber Energi Alam Mineral (SEAM). In 2018, SEAM owed creditors some obligations, with which came the signing of personal guarantee from Sabanda to ensure debt payment.

Sabanda is also known as the President Commissioner of PT Indo Pureco Pratama Tbk (IPPE), as well as former President Commissioner of PT Berkah Beton Sadaya Tbk (BEBS). Sabanda still owned 5.21% of 4.6 billion listed shares of IPPE and 4.51% of BEBS in January 2024. Sabanda is also listed as the ultimate beneficial owner of PT Bersama Zatta Jaya Tbk (ZATA). This last issuer recorded 8.49 billion shares with controllers owning 72.91% and non-controllers claiming 27.09%.

In separate statements, Iyan Sopyan, Director of BEBS; Syahmenan, President Director of IPPEl and Elidawati, President Director of ZATA, mentioned that PKPU lawsuit will not legally affect each company, as they are not affiliated with SEAM. (LK/ZH)
