JAKARTA - At the end of February, the total number of shares purchased by foreign investors reached amazing heights. International buyers acquired 7.57 billion shares and sold roughly 6.94 billion on Thursday, February 29. This time, the net foreign volume remained in surplus at 629.46 million shares, even though the sales volume was also quite substantial. Around 2.72 billion shares of technology issuer PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO) were the shares with the highest purchase volume, and its net volume was almost 600 million shares. Additionally, a sizeable amount of PT Bumi Resources Tbk (BUMI) shares were bought, totaling 1.60 billion shares with a net volume of 103.95 million.

Additionally, the next target was as many as 87.47 million shares of PT Astrindo Nusantara Infrastruktur Tbk (BIPI). A net volume of 56.61 million shares was then reported by this issuer of energy infrastructure. Also, 406.67 million shares of PT Smartfren Telecom Tbk (FREN) and 83.71 million shares of PT Bumi Resources Minerals Tbk (BRMS), a company that mines minerals, were purchased by foreigners. The two issuers subsequently reported a net volume between 36 and 39 million shares.

However, after foreigners sold 93.85 million of its shares, PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGAS), an SOE involved in the natural gas distribution industry, recorded the lowest net volume this time, at -67.11 million shares. Following with a sales volume of 147.21 million and a net volume of -35.85 million shares was another state-owned enterprise, PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBRI). Remaining in the banking industry, PT Bank BTPN Syariah Tbk (BTPS), a Sharia bank, and PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BBCA), a private bank, both reported negative net volumes of approximately 27–30 million shares. About 44.94 million BTPS shares, and 119.22 million BBCA shares were sold by foreign investors. Finally, foreign investors also released numerous shares from the property and real estate company PT Kawasan Industri Jababeka Tbk (KIJA), which had a sales volume of 33.75 million and a net volume of -32.89 million shares.
