Indonesia to become Global Halal Hub 2024, KDEKS Banten holds Halal Festival
BANTEN. Regional Committee of Sharia Economy and Finance (lit. Komite Daerah Ekonomi dan Keuangan Syariah/KDEKS) of Banten holds “Banten Halal Festival Ramadhan: From Banten to the World” to support the vision of Indonesia becoming Global Halal Hub 2024.
The festival, held Tuesday (2/4), follows the theme “Reinforcing Halal Economy Ecosystem of Indonesia to Face Global Challenges.” The festival is taking place at Menara Syariah, Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) 2, Tangerang, Banten.
“The demand of halal products in Indonesia has been increasing along with people’s awareness. The synergy amongst stakeholders becomes vital in strengthening the halal industry ecosystem in Indonesia, especially in Banten,” said KDEKS Banten in the official statement.
The festival is said to be opened by Ma’ruf Amin, Vice President of Republic of Indonesia. A series of events has been prepared, including seminar and talk shows with several sharia economy and halal industry experts, fashion show of modest fashion, religious music concert, MSME product bazaar, halal certification for business owners, inspirational tausiyah, and donation for orphans.
This agenda has been gaining support from several stakeholders, ranging from government institutions to private sectors. Some of them include Banten Government, Bank Indonesia of Banten, Sharia Economic People, and Menara Syariah itself.
According to IDNFinancials data, Banten has become one of the three regions selected to host Halal Industry Zone development in order to realise the vision of Indonesia becoming Global Halal Hub 2024. Other provinces are East Java and Riau Islands.
In 2023, Banten’s economy has grown 4.81% year-on-year (yoy), further supported by its export, resulting in net export growth of up to 19.35% yoy. (KR/ZH)
