JAKARTA - BUMA Australia Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of PT Bukit Makmur Mandiri Utama (BUMA) will work on pre-strip mining in Blackwater, Queensland, Australia. The pre-strip mining service contract was signed with Blackwater Operations Pty,Ltd, a subsidiary of Whitehaven Coal Mining Limited.

Dian Andyasuri, Director of PT Delta Dunia Makmur Tbk (DOID), BUMA's parent company, said that the pre-strip mining contract will contribute to BUMA Australia's revenue until June 2026. "The contract with Whitehaven Coal is a continuation of the services that BUMA Australia has provided at Blackwater with BHP Billiton and Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA)," she said in a press release quoted on Tuesday (16/4).

According to her, the mining service contract at Blackwater is a recognition of BUMA Australia's expertise and reputation from the coal industry in Australia. The company, he said, is committed to fostering strong and sustainable relationships for customer success.

It is known that Whitehaven Coal has completed the acquisition of the Blackwater and Daunia mines from BMA two weeks ago (2/4). Annual production from the mines is estimated at 36 million bank cubic meters (bcm) of overburden removal which will contribute to the company's revenue.

On the other hand, Colin Gilligan, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BUMA Australia said that the signing of the pre-strip mining contract strengthened BUMA Australia's reputation in the Bowen Basin. "We provide pre-strip and coal mining services to the metallurgical coal industry at Blackwater, Goonyella Riverside and Saraji mines, including Broadmeadow East and Burton mines," he said. (LK/LM)
