Barito Renewables Energy now listed in FTSE Global Equity Index
JAKARTA. PT Barito Renewables Energi Tbk (BREN), a renewable energy company under Barito Pacific Group, has entered FTSE Global Equity Index under the category of the highest market capitalisation in June 2024. This statement will take effect starting from June 24, 2024.
Merly, Corporate Secretary and Director of BREN, mentioned that the listing of BREN in FTSE Global Equity Index aligns with the expansive measure and business growth strategies the company has implemented. “The addition of BREN in the index is also a form of appreciation from the market towards expansive measures taken by BREN, which include the acquisition of wind turbine that serves as a diversification of our geothermal portfolio,” said Merly in the official statement.
According to the data compiled by IDNFinancials, BREN, through one of its subsidiaries, Barito Wind, has improved its portfolio in renewable energy through the acquisition of Sidrap Wind Farm 1 with a capacity of 75 MW. In addition, Barito Wind also acquires assets in the form of late-stage development of Sidrap 2, which is projected to be equipped with a capacity of 69 MW.
In the meantime, in the geothermal sector, one of BREN’s subsidiaries called Star Energy Geothermal, has also increased the capacity of Salak, Darajat, and Wayang Windu plants. This capacity increase is done through retrofit program, as well as new unit acquisition, which potentially boosts total capacity of the plant up to 116 MW.
For the record, FTSE Global Equity Index is one of the most renowned indices in the global market, covering 19,000 publicly listed companies across 49 countries. (KR/ZH)
