JAKARTA - On Friday, May 31, share buying and selling transactions by foreign investors reached astounding numbers, with foreign buying volume at 12.72 billion shares and foreign selling volume at 16.67 billion shares. The high amount of foreign sell volume led to a drop in the net foreign volume to -3.94 billion shares. The digital company PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO) was the company with the most shares sold, namely 7.34 billion shares, with a net volume of -2.88 billion shares.

The second large-scale share sale was carried out to an investment firm in the sector of managing telecommunications towers, PT Sarana Menara Nusantara Tbk (TOWR), which was sold for 1.92 billion shares, resulting in a net volume of -835.40 million. In the banking sector, foreign investors sold 587.93 million shares of PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBRI) for a net volume of nearly -200 million shares, and 378.96 million shares of PT Bank KB Bukopin Tbk (BBKP) for a net volume of -98.71 million. Shares of the energy resources infrastructure company PT Astrindo Nusantara Infrastruktur Tbk (BIPI) were also sold for 660.25 million shares and recorded a net volume of -98.39 million shares.

Meanwhile, 657.26 million shares of PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk (TPIA) in the petrochemical industry were purchased, resulting in a net volume of 242.58 million shares. In addition, 313.92 million shares of the coal mining company PT Bumi Resources Tbk (BUMI) were purchased, for a net volume of 154.36 million shares. Around 165.14 million shares of the telecommunications company PT Smartfren Telecom Tbk (FREN) were then purchased with a net volume of 124.50 million shares, followed by the purchase of 107.07 million shares of the domestic and foreign shipping services company PT Bintang Lintas Lautan Tbk (BULL) for a net volume of 104.40 million shares. Finally, 56.57 million shares of PT MNC Land Tbk (KPIG), which develops and manages resorts and hotels, were purchased, with a net volume of 50.10 million shares. (KD)
