JAKARTA – Statistics Indonesia (lit. Badan Pusat Statistik/BPS) reported inflation arriving at 2.13% in July 2024, sliding down from July 2023’s position at 3.08%. Inflation in July 2024 is also lower than inflation seen earlier this year.

Based on BPS data quoted today (2/8), inflation in July 2024 was reported lower than June 2024’s position at 2.51%. Within the past year, the inflation was triggered by foods and beverages of 1.04%.

Then, other commodities followed, includin g clothes and footwear; housing, water, electricity, and household fuel; daily household maintenance and equipment tools; healthcare; transportation; recreation, sports, and culture; information, communication, and financial services; education; food and beverage provider (restaurant); as well as personal care and other services.

Six provinces reported high inflation, such as West Java, Bali, Maluku, and Papua. Then, other regions saw deflation, including Aceh, West Sumatra, Banten, North Kalimantan, West Nusa Tenggara, North Sulawesi, Gorontalo, and South Papua. (LK/ZH)
