PLN IP to work with Saudi Arabian entity on floating solar in West Java
JAKARTA. PT PLN Indonesia Power (PLN IP) is partnering with Saudi Arabian company called ACWA Power to work on the development of floating solar plant in Saguling Dam, West Java.
Edwin Nugraha Putra, President Director of PLN IP, mentioned that this floating solar panel construction will be handled by PT Indo ACWA Tenaga Saguling, a joint venture formed by PLN IP and ACWA Power.
The power generated by Indo ACWA Tenaga Saguling will then be sold to PLN. Indo ACWA Tenaga Saguling and PLN have also reportedly signed a power purchase agreement (PPA).
“With this PPA, it further reasserts PLN Indonesia Power’s commitment in promoting energy transition in the country,” said Putra in the official statement.
In the meantime, Salman M. Baray, EVP South and South-East Asia of ACWA Power, said that his company appreciates this partnership with PLN regarding the investment on NRE development.
“The investment in this project is our first step to invest in Indonesia, allowing us to invest more in this country for NRE-based power,” added Baray. (KR/ZH)
