JAKARTA. AirAsia Group is reportedly exploring several funding opportunities to back its plan to acquire additional 75 units of aircrafts until 2031.

Tony Fernandes, CEO of Capital A Berhad, or the parent entity of AirAsia airline, said that this plan reflects the company’s commitment in supporting the development of Indonesia’s tourism sector, as well as strengthening international and domestic connectivity.

“By integrating international and domestic routes through fly-through services,” added Fernandes.

Fernandes said that as of now, the plan to expand its fleet is currently under the finalisation of interlining several routes, connecting AirAsia and Citilink’s routes. It aims to connect domestic routes to international ones, between AirAsia and Citilink.

Meanwhile, in the logistics sector, AirAsia has also initiated a strategic partnership with Garuda Indonesia since 2023. “This collaboration is meant to extend the scope and quality of logistics services in Indonesia, as well as Asia-Pacific region,” said Fernandes. (KR/ZH)
