Alibaba Group to promote GOTO’s digital innovation
JAKARTA - Alibaba Group is providing Alibaba Cloud services to advance digital innovation of PT Goto Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO) for the next five years. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Alibaba and GOTO was signed last week (13/9).
Selina Yuan, Vice President of Alibaba Group and President International Business of Alibaba Cloud Intelligence, said that strategic partnership is meant to combine cloud computing capability and world-class intelligence of Alibaba Cloud with GOTO’s expansive ecosystem.
“We hope to be able to empower numerous businesses in Indonesia and promote innovation to boost long-term growth,” added Yuan in the press release quoted today (17/9).
GOTO’s cloud services will start to migrate to Alibaba Cloud services in October 2024. This modification will simplify operational activities, enhance service efficiency, and lower GOTO’s operational costs. Two companies will collaborate in various fields, including talent development, which is expected to solve digital talent and AI demand in maintaining capability to innovate and its digital competitiveness.
In addition, both parties will explore other opportunities for collaboration that could empower national business owners and drive digital economic growth in Indonesia.
On the other hand, Patrick Walujo, President Director of GOTO, said that the collaboration with Alibaba will enhance the company’s capability in providing the most advanced solution and services to millions of its users and business players in Indonesia.
“This partnership becomes a pivotal accomplishment in its effort to generate resilient and inclusive digital economy of Indonesia,” Walujo added.
According to Walujo, this measure will also strengthen GOTO’s commitment in providing a partnership that will contribute to long-term sustainable growth, as well as giving added value to shareholders.
As of August 31, 2024, Alibaba Group owned 88,531,124,993 series A shares of GOTO. (LK/ZH)
