Take a look at BREN’s partners in enhancing SEG’s geothermal capacity
JAKARTA – PT Barito Renewables Energy Tbk (BREN) just announced the winner of the tender in the project of energy capacity increase of Star Energy Geothermal (SEG) during International Geothermal Conference and Exhibition 2024 (IIGCE), yesterday (18/9).
In the press release quoted Thursday (19/9), this issuer is said to boost energy capacity to 102.6 megawatt (MW) through the new plant expansion of Salak Unit 7 and Wayang Windu Unit 3, as well as capacity increase in existing units, such as Wayang WIndu Unit 1 and 2, as well as Salak Unit 4, 5, and 6.
The announced selected partner for Salak Unit 7 is a joint operation of PT Timas Suplindo and PT Rekayasa Industri (Rekin), which will add 40 MW to the Salak geothermal field by leveraging the Salak Injection Realignment Program.
PT Inti Karya Persada Teknik will work on the expansion of Wayang Windu Unit 3, adding 30 MW to the Wayang Windu geothermal field with the optimisation of existing surface facilities to increase total capacity.
Then, Consortium of Fuji Electric Co. Ltd. (lead firm) and PT Wasa Mitra Engineering will work on the capacity increase of existing unit by 18.4 MW via a retrofit project. It is meant to upgrade the technology and efficiency of Wayang Windu Unit 1 & 2, bringing total unit capacity to 124.45 MW each.
For Salak Units 4, 5, and 6 retrofit project of 7.2 MW increase, PT Fuji Electric Indonesia will replace turbine rotors and diaphragms with advanced designs in order to boost the efficiency optimally.
PT Mistubishi Power Indonesia is positioned at Drajat Unit 3 to boost capacity by 7 MW to 129 MW from 122 MW.
In addition, SEG will partner with PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk (PGEO) for laboratory services. The partnership will focus on geothermal fluid sampling and analysis to improve efficiency and adherence to good corporate governance principles. (LK/ZH)
