JAKARTA - Shareholders of PT Goto Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO) have appointed William Xiong as Chief Technology Officer (CTO). William's presence at GOTO strengthens Alibaba Group's commitment to investing in this largest marketplace company.

Patrick Walujo, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of GOTO expressed his appreciation for William's joining as GOTO's CTO. "We welcome William as CTO for the GOTO Group. His extensive experience and solid track record in leading large-scale technology initiatives make William the best choice for our company," he said in a press release quoted on Friday (20/9).

He said that William's leadership in realizing GOTO's technology vision is very strategic as the company's steps to drive business growth.

Previously, William served as Vice President of Alibaba Cloud Intelligence, General Manager of Enterprise Service Cloud and General Manager of International Industry Solution Development.

As of August 31, 2024, Alibaba Group owned 88,531,124,993 GOTO series A shares.

Last week (13/9), Alibaba and GOTO signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen digital innovation for the next five years. Selina Yuan, Vice President of Alibaba Group and President of International Business, Alibaba Cloud Intelligence, conveyed the strategic partnership to combine Alibaba Cloud's world-class cloud computing and intelligence capabilities with GOTO's extensive ecosystem. "We hope to empower various businesses in Indonesia and encourage innovation to spur long-term growth," she said. (LK/LM)
