JAKARTA. PT Pertamina Geothermal Energi Tbk (PGEO) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PT Pertamina Power Indonesia (Pertamina NRE) and Genevia, a France-based company focusing on clean hydrogen technology development.

Said MoU arranges the partnership between PGEO, Pertamina NRE, and Genvia to conduct joint research regarding the clean or low-carbon hydrogen development. The development will be carried out using the combination of SOEL (Solid Oxide Electrolyzer) from Genvia and Combined Heat and Power (CHP) from PGEO.

“This technology is expected to be an economic model of geothermal-based green hydrogen business that is deemed attractive and competitive in the market,” said Kitty Andhora, Corporate Secretary of PGEO, in the official statement.

Meanwhile, Julfi Hadi, President Director of PGEO, mentioned that the partnership is a synergy between Pertamina Group and Genvia in a joint effort to enter global green energy market.

“This partnership is a concrete measure to strengthen cross-border collaboration to advance the thorough development and adoption of green energy,” added Hadi.

For the record, Genvia is a public-private company established by several renowned companies and organisations, namely The French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA), Schlumberger, Vinci Construction, Vicat, and Occitanie Regional Government in France.
