BMHS plans an expansion, IKN’s prospects still reviewed
JAKARTA – PT Bundamedik Tbk (BMHS), the managing company of Bunda Hospital network, has reaffirmed its expansion plan within the next 3-5 years to untapped locations.
According to Agus Heru Darjono, President Director of BMHS, this expansion plan to cities where Bunda Hospitals lacks presence has been indeed included as growth strategy of this hospital business.
It is known that BMHS is currently managing 10 hospitals across Indonesia, 5 of which are located in Greater Jakarta Area. “Now, we are targeting territories currently untapped by us, including Eastern Indonesia, or let’s say, East Java,” added Darjono.
Darjono is quite optimistic about the prospect of hospital expansion, as demand for hospital services is still high. “Comparing the population with the number of beds in all hospitals, Indonesia recorded such a low rate,” he claimed.
“We plan for the addition of 1-2 hospitals each year,” added Darjono further during the Medis Discussion Session of BMHS today (2/10).
In line with this plan, Cuncun Wijaya, CFO of BMHS, revealed that the expansion plan will take place soon. “By the end of this year, we will establish an additional building we have planned. [The location] may be released in Q3,” he said on the same occasion.
Furthermore, regarding the potential of BMHS expansion to IKN, the management is admittedly being cautious. “Indeed, as of now, we are currently conducting a feasibility study, as we must be highly cautious while doing this feasibility study; we have not even visited it,” said Darjono.
However, the management said that the company has yet to determine the budget for expansion next year. As of June 2024, Wijaya said that BMHS had spent IDR 142 billion out of IDR 300 billion of capex that has been budgeted this year.
“The highest amount of fund allocation was for renovation that we did for our hospitals in Menteng, and the newly acquired ones, both in Palembang and Bekasi,” said Wijaya. (ZH)
