Inflation should slow down in November 2024
JAKARTA – Inflation in November 2024 and February 2025 is projected to decline, as stated in Retail Sales Survey of Bank Indonesia in August 2024. On the other hand, sales are expected to rise in the next three months, before declining again for 6 months in 2025.
Quoted from the press release today (9/10), Price Expectation Index (PEI) in November 2024 and February 2025 were recorded at 134.3 and 155.9, respectively, lower than the previous period which was recorded at 141.3 and 166.7. Milder inflation is expected following smooth distribution and sufficient goods supplies.
On the other hand, the survey also mentioned that respondents expect sales in November 2024 to increase before declining in February 2025. Sales Expectation Index (SEI) in November 2024 was projected at 144.4, higher from the previous 139.7. Then, for SEI in February 2025, it arrived at 123.1, slipping far from 153.1. (LK/ZH)
