JAKARTA – Slipped in September, PT Astra International Tbk (ASII) reported Astra car sales increasing 8.7% month-to-month (mtm) to 43,596 units from 40,096 units recorded last September.

In October 2024, Toyota and Lexus’s sales increased to 27,211 units from 25,591 units, followed by Daihatsu’s sales from 12,676 units to 14,096. Then, Isuzu’s sales also skyrocketed from 1,670 to 2.106 unit, while UD Trucks’ slightly shifted from 159 units to 183 units.

Out of total Astra’s car sales, low-cost green cars (LCGC) booked sales number of 11,02 units, or equal to approximately 25,3% of total car sales.

Year-on-year (yoy), Astra’s car sales slipped 2% yoy from 44,460 units sold in October 2023, still following the weakened car sales trend throughout the year.

However, national car sales actually quite improved in October 2024 compared to last September, up 6.2% yoy from 77,191 units. Thus, Astra’s market share also increased to 56% as of October 2024 from 55% seen last September. Meanwhile, Astra’s LCGC’s market share spiked to 75% from 70%.

In response to this, Boy Kelana Soebroto, Head of Corporate Communications of Astra, embraces the positive shift in national car sales.

“We hope that this momentum will be sustained until the end of the year, and Astra may continue to contribute in meeting public demand for mobility from Indonesian masses, as well as promoting national automotive industry,” added Soebroto. (ZH)
