BANDUNG – Nicolas D. Kanter, President Director of PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (ANTM), was awarded The Best CEO by Tempo-IDNFinancials for his innovative approach in utilizing mining waste for various applications.

One of the notable innovations by ANTM is the use of waste from bauxite washing to produce materials for road paving and construction. This initiative is carried out through the company’s Bauxite Mining Business Unit (UBP) in West Kalimantan.

In 2023, the UBP Bauxite Kalimantan Barat utilized 57,000 tons of bauxite washing waste, turning it into road construction materials and building products. The waste is generated in sediment ponds from the bauxite ore washing process.

According to data from idnfinancials.com, bauxite is one of ANTM's main commodities. In 2023, the company produced 2.01 million wet metric tons (wmt) of bauxite, with sales reaching 1.50 million wmt.

Meanwhile, as of 2023, the company’s bauxite resources were recorded at 547.4 million wmt, with reserves at 121.7 million wmt.

In addition to processing bauxite waste, ANTM has also utilized other by-products from its production activities, such as slag, fly ash, bottom ash, and tailings. These are repurposed into materials for concrete, green fine aggregates, and other construction materials.

Currently, ANTM remains a constituent of the Indeks Tempo-IDNFinancials 52 (Indeks52), a stock index managed by Tempo and IDN Financials. According to the Indeks52 criteria, ANTM is included in four categories: Main Index, High Dividend, High Growth, and Big Cap. (KR)
