JAKARTA - PT Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk (TPIA) grows optimistic regarding its business continuation following the successful extension of Industrial National Vital Object (OVNI) status conferred to its petrochemical factory in Ciwandan, Cilegon, Banten.

The OVNI status was granted for this factory, spanning 115.35 hectares (Ha), for at least another 5 years until 2029.

Suryandi, Director of Human Resources and Corporate Affairs of Chandra Asri Group, said that OVNI is one form of appreciation for Chandra Asri Group after its success in handling the demand for domestic petrochemical products, and thus reducing dependency towards import products.

“It reinforces our commitment to continue to operate with the highest safety and sustainability standards, as well as ensuring that the industry we manage may benefit industrial and economic sectors,” Suryandi said, as quoted Tuesday (26/11).

This factory has a naphtha cracker that generates olefin, polyolefin, pygas (pyrolysis gasoline), and mixed-C4. In addition, Ciwandan site office is the only manufacturer of butadiene, MTBE, and butene.

For the record, the government first conferred the OVNI status for this one and only naphtha cracking facility in Indonesia in 2012. (LK/ZH)
