Retiring its supermarket business, HERO is now DFI Retail Nusantara
JAKARTA. PT Hero Supermarket Tbk (HERO) has officially changed its name to PT DFI Retail Nusantara Tbk following a successful meeting of shareholders last week.
In said meeting, 92.28% of the shares with valid votes have agreed upon this name change. “[Shareholders] agreed upon the amendment of Article 1 Paragraph 1 of Articles of Association of the company, regarding its name, to PT DFI Retail Nusantara Tbk,” said the management of HERO in the information disclosure.
It is worth mentioning that this name change follows the divestment plan of its supermarket business line, which has been operating for years under the brans Hero Supermarket. This plan had been announced back in April 2024.
This supermarket business line was transferred to PT Hero Retail Nusantara (HRN) for IDR 183 billion. Both HERO and HRN had reportedly signed a conditional sale and purchase agreement.
It is worth mentioning that HRN is an affiliated company of HERO, owned by Ipung Kurnia, the President Commissioner of HERO.
Years prior, HERO had terminated Giant Supermarket line. It decided to close down all existing outlets following the massive change in consumer behaviour in Indonesia, plus the rise of convenience stores.
After this supermarket business line divestment, as well as the name alteration, HERO will remain in retail business and focus on Guardian and IKEA. (KR/ZH)
