JAKARTA – At the beginning of a new year, Jakarta Stock Price Composite Index (JCI) was closed 1.18% or 83.3-points higher at 7,163.21 this Thursday (2/1).

It opened at 7,092.43 and once hit its lowest to 7,088.32, before finally closed at its peak at the closing bell.

The transaction volume last Thursday (2/1) was reported at 19.37 billion shares, with total value of IDR 9.02 trillion. The transaction frequency stood at 1.09 million.

JCI’s rise at the beginning of this year is then utilised by foreign investors through offloading activities, resulting in net foreign sell of IDR 245.69 billion, or equal to USD 15.13 million.

PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBRI) reigned the Top Leaders board, reporting 3.19% rise or 20-points boost for JCI. On the other hand, PT United Tractors Tbk (UNTR) led the Top Laggards board with 4.01% drop or dragged JCI by 3.50points.

According to IDNFinancials data, 5 out of 11 sectoral indices saw growth at the beginning of this year, while 6 others were closed at the red zone. (KR/ZH)
