International tourist visits up 17.29%, majority from Malaysia
JAKARTA – International tourist arrivals in November 2024 rose by 17.29% to 1.09 million compared to 931,227 visits in November 2023. Among the top countries of origin, Malaysia reported the highest number of tourist visits.
Data from the Statistics Indonesia (lit. Badan Pusat Statistik/BPS), cited on Friday (3/1), shows that tourist visits from ASEAN countries reached 383,038, the highest among other regions, namely Asia (excluding ASEAN) with 319,508 visits, the Middle East with 23,270, Europe with 158,444, the Americas with 47,049, Oceania with 153,883, and Africa with 6,875 visits.
Malaysian tourist arrivals totalled 174,265 in November 2024, an increase of 22.94% from 141,746 in November 2023, making Malaysia the top country of origin for tourists. However, visits from Malaysia in November 2024 decreased by 10.22% from October 2024, which saw 194,099 visits.
Singapore ranked second with 120,449 visits, up 2.07% from 118,005 in November 2023, and growing 13.20% from 106,307 in October 2024.
Meanwhile, tourist visits from the Middle East were the lowest among all regions in November 2024. Visitors from Yemen, the United Arab Emirates, and Kuwait recorded 617, 560, and 194 visits respectively. (LK/ZH)
