JAKARTA. Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) strengthened again, rising by 1.77% or 122.89 points to 7,079.56 in Wednesday’s (15/1) trading session, after hitting its lowest level in the past seven months.

A total of 18.08 billion shares were traded in 1.37 million transactions. The total trading value on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) yesterday was IDR 10.76 trillion.

The JCI’s uptrend on Wednesday was positively received by foreign investors, as evidenced by a net foreign buy of IDR 593.59 billion. In the preceding days, foreign investors had consistently recorded net sales.

The three stocks driving JCI, or Top Leaders, on Wednesday were PT Bank Rakyat Indonssia (Persero) Tbk (BBRI)PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk (BMRI), and PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BBCA).

BBRI shares rose by 7.63%, contributing 44.56 points to the index's gain. Meanwhile, BMRI shares increased by 6.48% and BBCA by 2.89%. The contributions of BMRI and BBCA to the IHSG's rise were 31.27 points and 17.89 points, respectively.

Sectoral index performance also showed a uniform increase on Wednesday, with only two sectors—Basic Materials and Industrials—experiencing declines. (KR/ZH)
