Morgan Stanley sells off 188 million shares of MD Pictures (FILM)
JAKARTA – On Wednesday, January 15, the Indonesia Stock Exchange's report of changes in share ownership exceeding 5% highlighted foreign investor Morgan Stanley And Co International Plc, which sold 188.75 million shares of PT MD Pictures Tbk (FILM), a film and production firm.
The purchase was made possible by PT Bank HSBC Indonesia. Currently, Morgan Stanley owns only about 11.51% of FILM's stock.
Other foreign investors followed suit. PT Bumi Resources Tbk (BUMI), a mining holding company, had 23.47 million shares released by HSBC-Fund SVS A/C Chengdong Investment Corp-Self. Additionally, CGS International Securities Singapore Pte Ltd sold 4.63 million shares of their stake in PT Wilton Makmur Indonesia Tbk (SQMI), a gold mining business.
For domestic investors, PT Maybank Sekuritas Indonesia sold more than 7 million shares of PT Dosni Roha Indonesia Tbk (ZBRA), leaving the remaining shares at 15.44%. ZBRA is involved in supply chain solutions.
Lastly, PT Global Perkasa Investindo, the owner of 7.32% of the shares of PT Mitra Energi Persada Tbk (KOPI), the energy infrastructure investment and oil and gas trading firm, reported the sale of 28,200 shares.
In the meantime, PT Fersindo Nusa Jaya added the most shares this time around. Through PT Danatama Makmur Sekuritas and PT Dwidana Sakti Sekuritas, this investor acquired 24.33 million shares in PT Buana Lintas Lautan (BULL), an issuer of oil and gas tankers.
Following the acquisition of 865 thousand shares of the helicopter rental business PT Jaya Trishindo Tbk (HELI) by PT Startel Communication, PT Arthakencana Rayatama also acquired 2.04 million shares of the gasoline distributor, PT AKR Corporindo Tbk.
Stock shopping was also observed by individual investors. Through two securities, renowned investor Lo Kheng Hong purchased 1.5 million shares of PT Gajah Tunggal Tbk (GJTL), a tire manufacturer. His share percentage increased slightly to 5.27%.
Last but not least, Darmawan Suryadi SM acquired 1.14 million shares of the transportation company PT Armada Berjaya Trans Tbk (JAYA) via PT KB Valbury Sekuritas, increasing his ownership stake to 18.92%. (KD)
