BI Governor: Global finance still shadowed with volatility
JAKARTA - Perry Warjiyo, Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI), reminded three aspects to be observed in order to respond to the latest global economic and financial market developments. This was conveyed at the opening of the Annual Investment Forum (FIT) in Bali which took place on January 23-24, 2025.
In a press release quoted on Friday (24/1), the three aspects are; First, the global economy and financial markets will still be filled with uncertainty and volatility. The causes include the slowdown and divergence of global growth, supply chain dynamics and trade policies of developed countries that affect global inflation, the high yield of US Government bonds, the strong US Dollar (US$) exchange rate, and capital flows from developed to developing countries.
Second, investors set investment strategies and look at various scenarios to make measured investment decisions. Third, optimising technology, especially Artificial Intelligence (AI) to assist investment decisions.
He said that Indonesia is one of the investment destination countries with strong economic fundamentals. A number of asset choices that can be considered by global investors include Bank Indonesia Securities and Securities in the form of Bank Indonesia Rupiah Securities (SRBI), Bank Indonesia Forex Securities (SVBI), and Bank Indonesia Forex Sukuk (SUVBI).
