Indonesia-India sign cooperation agreements in various sectors, what are they?
JAKARTA - The governments of Indonesia and India have signed a number of cooperation agreements in various sectors, following the arrival of President Prabowo Subianto on Saturday (25/1) in India.
The signing of the cooperation was witnessed by Prabowo and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Prabowo said the Indonesian government will accelerate cooperation with India and prioritise long-term cooperation. ‘We discussed various key sectors that are common goals (Indonesia-India),’ Prabowo said after the signing of the cooperation, as quoted by Reuters.
Meanwhile, Mr Modi added that Indonesia and India would strengthen each other's manufacturing sectors and improve each other's supply chains. ‘We also decided to cooperate on various matters ranging from maritime security, cyber security, counter-terrorism, and de-radicalisation,’ Modi said.
Previously, Prabowo's visit to India was reportedly as a guest of honour for Indonesia's Republic Day celebrations. Before leaving for India on Thursday (23/1) yesterday, Prabowo had also prepared plans for cooperation with India in various sectors.
Some of them include cooperation in health, cultural exchange, security, and digital technology development. (KR/LM)
