Mekar Investama Teknologi innovates in productive segments
JAKARTA – PT Mekar Investama Teknologi, a licensed fintech lending platform that focuses on financing MSMEs without access to traditional banking, has launched new innovations in the productive segment. The productive segment refers to areas that generate additional income or profits, and Mekar’s initiatives aim to expand its reach and increase social impact.
"Through longer tenors and lower costs, employees can use funding facilities to boost productivity, such as for children's education expenses, emergency needs like medical treatment, or to pay off high-interest loans that were previously unaffordable," explained Pandu Aditya K, President Director of PT Mekar Investama Teknologi, in a press statement on Thursday (Jan. 30).
Mekar is also broadening its funding scope beyond micro and ultra-micro enterprises to target small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Throughout 2024, the company expanded into the agriculture sector, partnering with agricultural ecosystem stakeholders. Mekar has already provided funding to over 20,000 farmers in West Java and Central Java.
To date, the company has disbursed over IDR 1.5 trillion in funding, with an outstanding loan value of IDR 530 billion.
Founded to improve financial access for MSMEs in Indonesia by connecting lenders and small businesses needing capital, Mekar has been continuously evolving since its acquisition by Linkki Singapore Pte. Ltd. in January 2024. The company has developed technologies to simplify the process for individuals and institutions supporting small businesses in Indonesia.
Mekar currently collaborates with more than 300 credit cooperatives, rural banks, and other financial institutions across the country. (DK)
