Weak purchasing power, yet Permata Bank still eyes double-digit growth in consumer credit
JAKARTA – PT Bank Permata Tbk (BNLI), also known as Permata Bank, remains optimistic about achieving double-digit growth in consumer credit this year, despite the ongoing struggles with weak consumer purchasing power.
"Our target this year is double-digit growth, in line with the government's direction to be more aggressive," said Djumariah Tenteram, Director of Consumer Banking at Permata Bank, during the Permata Bank x Japan Airlines Travel Fair 2025 press conference today (30/1).
Even though purchasing power is reportedly weakening, Permata Bank is confident in the consumer credit segment. "Last year, our spending grew by almost 20%. This came from various transactions, including overseas spending, travel, tickets, hotels, and more," Tenteram added.
Permata Bank's consumer lending segment spans a wide range, including mortgages (KPR), credit cards, personal loans (KTA), and financing for MSMEs, with mortgages accounting for the largest portion of consumer credit.
However, Tenteram noted that the mortgage segment has not seen significant growth yet. "With continued support from the government, we hope the growth will be better than in previous years," she said.
As of September 2024, Permata Bank reported net credit distribution of around IDR 140 trillion. (ZH)
