JAKARTA – PT Cemindo Gemilang Tbk (CMNT), a producer of Merah Putih cement and its derivatives, has confirmed its confidence in achieving double the projected growth of the Indonesian cement market.

“We are targeting growth twice the predicted market growth,” said Surindro Kalbu Adi, Director of Commercial and Logistics at Semen Merah Putih, during the launch of its Carbon Injection Concrete last Friday (31/1).

However, Surindro could not yet disclose plans for cement plant expansion. “We are looking at several locations, still in process. Maybe not this year; possibly in two years,” he said. Last year, he added, CMNT opened two new terminals in Dumai and Medan.

CMNT stated that current cement production has already reached full capacity and is in the process of optimization. “The Indonesian Cement Association has projected market growth of around 2% this year, so Semen Merah Putih will grow by approximately 4-5%,” Surindro explained.

On the other hand, CMNT is expected to boost its performance in downstream segments, such as concrete and precast. “For batching plants, we have already confirmed that. Our growth this year will be quite aggressive, as outlined in our roadmap,” Surindro added.

As reported by IDNFinancials last Friday (31/1), Beton Merah Putih (BMP), a subsidiary of CMNT, introduced its latest product to support green construction, a concrete with carbon injection technology.

With an investment of around IDR 3 billion to install carbon injection technology in three of its batching plants this year, BMP plans to have up to nine carbon injection technology batching plants by 2026. (ZH)
