JAKARTA - PT Dharma Polimetal Tbk (DRMA) expands its business portfolio by developing Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). This measure is a part of DRMA’s diversification strategy in order to improve business growth and resilience.

Irianto Santoso, President Director of DRMA, reveals that BESS has been developed in the newest plant of its subsidiary, PT Dharma Controlcable Indonesia (DCI).

This technology is said to be able to store energy from solar panels, and 600 units of them have been successfully distributed to one of house developers.

Aside from housing, BESS is further developed to be able to serve as alternative energy source for Electric Vehicle Charging Stations. The test conducted by DCI showed that the combination of solar panels of 27.5 kWp and BESS of 50 kWh is able to supply power for chargers of 30 kW.

“Amid industry challenges, business diversification has become our strategy to establish a new income source. We are optimistic that with this expansion, future performance will be stronger,” added Santoso in the press release, Monday (3/2).

In the bigger picture, renewable energy industry in Indonesia continues to flourish, further supported by the government’s policies and commitment in COP 29 to produce 75 gigawatts of renewable energy in the next 15 years.

DRMA had also established a collaborative ecosystem called Dharma Connect (DC), which includes five primary segments, namely battery, charging stations, electric motorcycles, solar panels, and electric vehicle conversion. (DK/ZH)
