JAKARTA - PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) is targeting coal sales to reach 50.1 million ton in 2025, 17.33% higher than 2024 sales realisation of 42.7 million ton.

Niko Chandra, Corporate Secretary of PTBA, said that 2024 coal sales increased 16% year-on-year (yoy) from 2023 realisation.

This increase was driven by export sales that reached 20.3 million ton, marking a 30% yoy increase, as well as domestic market obligation (DMO) of 22.6 million tons, up 6% yoy.

“Coal sales were dominated by the domestic market. However, broadly, export saw gains. Domestic portion reached 53%, and exports, 47%,” Chandra said, as quoted Tuesday (4/2).

Increased exports were seen across several countries, including India 6.4 million ton, Vietnam 3 million ton, Thailang 1.6 million ton, and Malaysia 888.7 thousand ton.

According to Chandra, the increased coal sales in 2024 was supported by production reaching 43.3 million ton, as well as coal transport of 38.2 million ton.

“PTBA is prepared to provide energy ceaselessly in order to realise energy independence included in Asta Cita,” added Chandra.

For information, PTBA’s coal sales booked positive trend within the past five years. In 2020, coal sales volume reached 26.1 million ton, before increasing to 28.4 million in 2021, 31.7 million ton in 2022, and 37 million ton in 2023. (LK/KR/ZH)
