JAKARTA - The corruption case of PT Asuransi Jiwasraya (Persero)'s financial and investment management has now named a new suspect, Isa Rachmatawarta, who served as Director-General of Budget at the Ministry of Finance.
Abdul Qohar, Director of Investigation at the Attorney General's Office, said Isa has been proven to have contributed to state losses in the Jiwasraya corruption case. The investigation team, said Qohar, has found sufficient evidence of the criminal offence committed by IR alias Isa Rachmatawarta.
‘At that time [IR] served as Head of the Insurance Bureau at Bapepam LK (Capital Market and Financial Institutions Supervisory Agency) 2006-2012,’ said Qohar, when giving a statement at the Attorney General's Office on Friday (7/2) yesterday.
The naming of Isa as a suspect is based on the results of an investigation into the calculation of state losses in Jiwasraya's 2008-2028 financial recovery. As a result of this case, Mr Qohar said, the state suffered a loss of IDR16.81 trillion.
Furthermore, Isa will serve his detention period at the Salemba detention centre, Attorney General's Office Branch. ‘He will be detained for the next 20 days,’ said Qohar. (KR/LM)
